Israel Segun Olajonrin is a seasoned survey professional with over a decade and half cumulative experience in socio-economic studies, social research, agriculture, and public opinion polling. He combines deep expertise in quantitative and qualitative research methodologies with advanced skills in field operations, data management, and end-to-end project delivery. He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration and a Master’s degree in Data Science Management, equipping him with both managerial acumen and cutting-edge analytical skills that enhance API’s research excellence.
As Director of Research & Development at Africa Polling Institute (API) , Segun leads the design, coordination, and execution of projects that strengthen democratic governance, social cohesion, and evidence-based policymaking in Nigeria and across Africa. He oversees the full research cycle from proposal development and methodology design to data collection and analysis, ensuring that API’s outputs are rigorous, credible, and impactful.
Segun began his career at Market Research Consultancy (MRC) as a Data Entry Supervisor before joining NOIPolls Limited, Nigeria’s premier public opinion polling firm, where he advanced through roles as Field Officer, Data Analyst, and Research Associate. He later served as Senior Research Manager at API before a brief tenure at Fantein Nigeria, after which he returned to API to assume his current leadership role.
He is a trained research analyst with extensive experience conducting studies for diverse clients across multiple sectors. His technical proficiency includes mastery of leading data collection and analysis tools such as SurveyToGo, SurveyCTO, Kobo Collect, SPSS, Amado, Harvard Graphics, PowerBi, and basic in Tableau enabling him to deliver high-quality insights tailored to client and institutional needs.
Beyond technical expertise, Segun is recognized for his ability to translate complex data into actionable models for insight that inform decision-making. His leadership ensures that API remains at the forefront of opinion research and civic engagement in Africa.
Segun is also a Fellow of the Institute of Management Consultants, underscoring his professional standing and commitment to excellence in research and organizational leadership.
