UMENWALIRI, ADA

Ada is a Non-Resident Policy Fellow with Africa Polling Institute (API). She currently serves as Associate Director with the African Studies Center at the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill. With over 15 years in public policy and international development, Ada has worked on several development projects addressing economic and social reforms in public finance, health, interventions for marginalized populations, governance and elections. Ms. Umenwaliri is an expert in multi-stakeholder engagement with an impressive track record for successful advocating for significant reforms such as Cashless Nigeria- electronic payment and mobile money, public procurement, fertilizer policy, equipment leasing, and competition and consumer protection, to mention a few. Ms. Umenwaliri has deep knowledge of Nigeria’s political economy. She is a market systems expert with strong analytical, research and evaluation skills. Ms. Umenwaliri has a BSC in Psychology from Enugu State University of Science and Technology, an MSC in Public Policy and Management from the University of London and a Master of International Development Policy, specializing in Public Finance, from Duke University.
